Abstract

A study of patients who had been operated on from January 1995 to December 1997 at General Teaching Hospital "Aleida Fernández Chardiet" was undertaken. A total number of 1 006 patients were visited. The medical records provided the information whereas surgical and anatomopathological report provided data collection. Data were gathered in a special form. A higher percent of incidence was observed in females. The most frequent age group was 15-29 years; dental retention and moficiations for denture prevail in the number of patients and applied surgical treatments. The frequency of patients and surgeries increase in non hospitalized patients. The study suggests the carrying out of a study of mouth disordes and applied surgical treatments in maxillo-facial surgery.
