Abstract

TORRES CURI, Eva M  and  MIGUEL ROSALES, José. Relación entre el uso nocturno y la adaptación a la prótesis estomatológica. Rev Cubana Estomatol [online]. 2000, vol.37, n.2, pp. 77-83. ISSN 1561-297X.

The prosthetic rehabilitation of a patient leads to a series of changes that are part of an adaptation process. Once the prosthesis is placed, the patient is instructed what to do for a better adaptation and indications are given on the use and care of the prosthesis. The nocturnal use of the prosthesis is the main objective of our paper, in which we related the adaptation to the nocturnal use as regards the time of placement, the previous prosthetic experience, the type of prosthesis and the time of nocturnal use. 50 patients from the physician´s office No. 25 of "Manuel Angulo Farrán" Dental Clinic were surveyed and it was observed that there was a direct relationship between the nocturnal use and the favorable adaptation as the time of placement and use of the prosthesis were longer among those patients with previous prosthetic experience and in those having upper and lower acrylic dental prostheses.
