Abstract

ALFONSO BETANCOURT, Natividad M; PRIA BARROS, María del Carmen; ALFONSO BETANCOURT, Olivia  and  GARCIA ALFONSO, Anet. Analysis of oral health situation according to living conditions. "Camilo Cienfuegos" health area, 2001. Rev Cubana Estomatol [online]. 2004, vol.41, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-297X.

An analysis of the oral health situation according to living conditions was made in "Camilo Cienfuegos" health area located in Habana del Este municipality from September 2000 to July 2001. The concept of living conditions was made operative. For the classification of conditioning factors according to the living conditions, the integrated development index was used to make a more comprehensive interpretation of the community where the individual and his family live and develop since the living conditions and the related oral health are analyzed. On the other hand, this type of analysis may also be used by both family physicians and the staffs in charge of dental management, who require following this kind of approach. Finally, this type of analysis may be applied to family, physician's office, health area, municipality or any other type of organization. Data were collected on the risk factors and oral health indicators for each of the identified strata. It was concluded that most oral health indicators reach the highest percentages in those physician´s offices having favorable conditions whereas the lowest percentages are found in physician´s offices under unfavorable conditions.
