Abstract

Rev Cubana Farm [online]. 1997, vol.31, n.3, pp. 182-187. ISSN 1561-2988.

It is evaluated the antimicrobial effectiveness of 4 products derived from the pyroligneous acid (LQ 501-10, LQ 501-20, LQ 502-10, and LQ 502-20), according to the CMEA methodology. The 4 products have a good antimicrobial efficiency at a concentration of 6 %. The practical study in surgical areas showed a great reduction of those units forming colonies after disinfection. According to the toxicological study, the 4 products are suited to their purposes. It is recommended their use as surface disinfectants (walls, floors, counters, etc.). They can also be used as cleaners. These four products were put into practice and included in the Register of Sanitary Products.

Keywords : PLANT EXTRACTS [pharmacology]; ANTIBIOTICS [pharmacology]; CROSS INFECTION [drug therapy]; DISINFECTANTS [standars].
