Abstract

MACHADO RIVERO, Manuel Osvaldo  and  DIAZ CATALA, Yoysy. Analysis of personal sources of information on drugs present in the network of pharmacies of Santa Clara municipality. Rev Cubana Farm [online]. 2008, vol.42, n.3, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-2988.

The objective of this study was the evaluation of non-documentary (personal) sources of information available in the pharmacy network of Santa Clara municipality. To this end, twenty six community-based pharmacies were included. A data collection model to gather information on the type of source under analysis in this paper was designed. Seven Bachelors of Pharmaceutical Sciences, who are the professionals in charge of the information service in the network of community-based pharmacies, were surveyed. Pararell to this, the probable function that pharmaceutical technicians may perform in this service was assessed, for which 47 persons were also interviewed. The results revealed that it is difficult for the population to accede to these sources, that higher level professionals do not perform their function as sources of information on a daily basis, and that upgrading of knowledge of technicians and bachelors should be extended along with their greater participation in events and in article publication. There were no significant differences between the number of surveyed people that stated resorting to personal sources of information or responding to consultations by phone and those who daily combine both methods to provide information on drugs.
