Abstract

Occupational asthma is at present the most frequent occupational respiratory disorder according to the project and the medical and legal statistics. It also includes variants as byssinosis, respiratory disease induced by grains and dust, and asthma caused by aluminum melting. The pathology was reviewed in general and emphasis was made on that one evolving without a periodo of latency and that is induced by irritants, giving rise to the airways disfunction syndrome (RADS). The physiopathological hypotheses, the pathological aspects, the clinical manifestations and the prevalence of this syndrome were described.
