Abstract

ROUSSEAU GONZALEZ, Georgina; COLLAZO BORREGO, Lucas  and  GARCIA FERRERA, Waldo. Perfil inmunológico de pacientes portadores de hepatitis C: Estudio preliminar. Rev cubana med [online]. 2000, vol.39, n.2, pp. 101-105. ISSN 1561-302X.

Authors studied 20 patients carriers of chronic hepatitis virus C for a immunological assessment. Presence of serum cryoglobulins, rheumatoid factor, circulatory immune complexes, and of antinuclear and antimitochondrial antibodies. Cryoglobulins were qualitatively assessed; rheumatoid factor, by agglutination; immune complexes, by immunoprecipitation, and autoantibodies, by direct immunofluorescence in sections of rats liver and kidney, respectively. In cryoglobulins and rheumatoid factor there was 45 % and 10 % of positivity, respectively. Immune complexes, however, were within normal rank. Antinuclear antibodies were positive in 20 % of study patients, whereas antimitochondrial ones were negative in all cases. We conclude that humoral immune response in patients with chronic hepatitis virus C, seems to be affected, and its main feature is presence of serum cryoglobulins

Keywords : HEPATITIS C [inmunology]; CRYOGLOBULINS.
