Abstract

SOLER MOREJON, Caridad. Presión intraabdominal y sepsis. Rev cubana med [online]. 2001, vol.40, n.1, pp. 45-49. ISSN 1561-302X.

A literature review was made on the increase of intraabdominal pressure that causes a series of well-known adverse effects on the cardiovascular, respiratory and renal function. It was confirmed that effects on splachnic circulation have been less studied; however, the authors agree with other authors as to the importance of keeping adequate levels of intraabdominal pressure to avoid intestinal ischemia and thus the damage to the function of the intestinal barrier due to the effects that this may have on the development of bacterial and toxin translocation and on sepsis in general
