Abstract

GOMEZ PADRON, María Virginia; TOLEDO QUESADA, Antonio; CASTELLANOS DUMOIS, Arquímides  and  HERRERA, María Luisa. Trombólisis en el infarto agudo del miocardio: Análisis de los tiempos de demora. Rev cubana med [online]. 2001, vol.40, n.2, pp. 91-95. ISSN 1561-302X.

100 patients with acute myocardial infarction admitted at the ICU were surveyed aimed at knowing the therapeutic attention, the number of health care services where they were attended before being admitted in hospital, the means of transportation used and the times of prehospital and intrahospital delay (door-needle) for recombinant streptokinase, which was administered to 27 patients of the 100 that were studied. Of the 30 patients from Havana City, 11 (36 %) received recombinant streptokinase, whereas of the 70 patients from Havana, 16 (23 %) had that treatment. The time of prehospital delay was 4 h with a door-needle time of 4.33 h for the patients with acute myocardial infarction that were administered recombinant streptokinase. The time of prehospital delay for those who were not administered recombinant streptokinase was 13.48 h. It was concluded that more than half of the patients with acute myocardial infarction before getting to hospital look for medical assistance in diverse health care services, where their therapeutic attention and transportantion are not as good as they should be. The delay times influenced on the low utilization of the above-mentioned treatment
