Abstract
RODRIGUEZ VAZQUEZ, Juan Carlos; PINO ALFONSO, Pedro Pablo; GASSIOT NUNO, Carlos and CID GUEDES, Alicia. Duración del efecto broncodilatador de la furosemida inhalada por pacientes asmáticos. Rev cubana med [online]. 2002, vol.41, n.3, pp. 157-161. ISSN 1561-302X.
A study was designed to evaluate if the bronchodilator effect of inhaled furosemide persisted in asthtmatic patients with some level of bronchial obstruction 4 hours after the administration of this drug and a comparison was made with salbutamol. Forty patients were studied, 20 of them received aerosol salbutamol (0,5%-1 cc) and the remaining 20 were administered inhabled furosemide (100 mg). All of them were applied a first respiratory functional test before administering aerosol, 15 minutes after and 4 hours after the drug being administered. Both groups showed a significant broncodilator effect, determined by changes in the forced vital capacity and the forced expiratory volume in one second. When comparing both groups of patients, there was no significant difference. It was concluded that the broncodilator effect of inhaled furosemide persisted 4 hours after administration.
