Abstract

ARANGO PRADO, María del C.  and  GONZALEZ SANCHEZ, Alicia. Vacunas terapéuticas en cáncer: Ensayos clínicos actuales. Rev cubana med [online]. 2002, vol.41, n.6, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-302X.

The therapeutic vaccines in cancer are a new immunotherapeutic strategy aimed at stimulating or potentiating in the host an immune response against the tumor antigens. This form of therapy based on the manipulation of the immune system may complement the conventional oncologic treatments. Nowadays, there are diverse vaccine preparations, which are being clinically assayed in different tumoral localizations. The objective of this review is to offer an updated panorama on the foundation, classification and most important applications of the main vaccines that are investigated at present in the malignant tumors.

Keywords : NEOPLASMS [immunology]; NEOPLASMS [therapy]; CANCER VACCINES; ANTIGENS, NEOPLASM; CLINICAL TRIALS.
