Abstract

The prevalence of multiple sclerosis is increasing in the world and in Cuba, and it already affects one out of 500 persons. These patients should be seen by a multidisciplinary group in order to improve their health status and to reduce the progress of the disease. We propose ourselves to update the topic on the nutrition these patients should have to indicate it as part of their treatment. Reference was made to the clinical forms of the disease, its main symptoms, diagnosis and treatment Emphasis was given to the diet .they should have with various specifications. It should be mainly low in saturated fats. Instructions about a fat-low diet with allowed and forbidden foods were included. It was stressed the importance of rehabilitation, which will greatly enhance the quality of life of these patients.
