Abstract

BORROTO DIAZ, Gerardo; PONCE PEREZ, Pedro  and  BARCELO ACOSTA, Malicela. Comparison of tolerance to hemodyalisis in a group of patients subjected to two stages of hemodyalitic treatment. Rev cubana med [online]. 2006, vol.45, n.3, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-302X.

A prospective study of 32 patients was conducted to compare the tolerance to hemodyalisis between two treatment stages of 3 months each. During the first stage, a stable sodium concentration was used in the dyalisate (138 meq/L), fixed ultrafiltration rate, constant temperature at 36-36.5 ºC, and acetate as a buffer in the dyalisis fluid. High intradyalitic morbidity with hypotension frequency of 30 % (432 episodes); nauseas and vomits, 15 % (216); cramps, 19.8 % (286); headache, 5 % (72); and chest pain, 5 % (72); were found. The interdyalitic weight gain (3.05 kg), as well as the mean figures of predyalisis arterial pressure, systolic 176 mmHg and dyastolic 92.5, were higher, whereas the dyalisis dose (1.31) was lower on comparing all them with the stage II, where the results were less frequency of intradyalitic complications: hypotension, 14 % (193); nauseas and vomits, 8 % (110); cramps, 7 % (97); headache, 3 % (42); and chest pain, 4 % (55). There was also a better control of arterial pressure, systolic152.6 and dyasytolic 87.4. The weight gain was 2.12 kg, and the dyalisis dose was higher (1.42), which showed a better tolerance to the method in this period characterized by the utilization of decreasing sodium and ultrafiltration profiles, low temperatures and bicarbonate in the dyalisate.

Keywords : Tolerance; hemodyalisis; intradyalitic morbidity; sodium profile; ultrafiltration; temperature; dyalisate.
