Abstract

PEREZ RODRIGUEZ, Alexis et al. Kidney transplant in Cuba with more than 36 years of evolution. Rev cubana med [online]. 2006, vol.45, n.3, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-302X.

The case of a 59-year-old patient that recevied attention at the Nephrology Institute of Cuba with history of end-stage chronic renal failure and that after 73 days on dialysis received a kidney transplant from a dead donor on May 2, 1970, is presented. Neither cross test nor HLA typing were perfomed, as it is usual at present. Only blood group studies were made, and immunosuppression therapy with imuran and prednisone was used. At present, the kidney allograft function is good, which makes him the renal transplanted with the longest time of evolution under these conditions .

Keywords : Kidney transplant.
