Abstract

The availability of more safe and effective antihypertensive drugs has change the impact and the course of cardiovascular diseases including the high blood pressure. The XX century ended with great advances in the development of antihypertensive drugs with a proven effectiveness on the control of high blood pressure and the decrease of cardiovascular risk. In present paper authors made an historical rough outline on the research of high blood pressure during past century and also a review on the antihypertensive drugs under research during XXI century.
