Abstract

RUBIO GONZALEZ, Tamara; AMARO IVONET, Guillermo  and  MARTINEZ BURGER, Guillermo. Atención multidisciplinaria a pacientes con fibrosis quística. Rev Cubana Pediatr [online]. 1999, vol.71, n.4, pp. 228-232. ISSN 1561-3119.

We presented the results of the work performed from January 1993 to March 1998 by a multidisciplinary care team set up to take care of patients with cystic fibrosis in Santiago de Cuba. During this period, 20 patients in all were diagnosed with this disease, taking their clinical pictures, sweat test results and previous familial history into account. All the patients were applied molecular studies and nine of them disclosed at least one cystic fibrosis gene mutation. More than half of the sick received physiotherapeutical treatment and other pancreatic enzime-linked therapy. We underlined the importance of the set-up of these multidisciplinary teams for following these patients up which has a favorable impact on their recovery.

Keywords : CYSTIC FIBROSIS [genetic]; CYSTIC FIBROSIS [diagnosis]; PATIENT CARE TEAM.
