ALVAREZ RODRIGUEZ, Alicia; ACOSTA MEDINA, Doralquis L. and SUAREZ MEDINA, Yeldis R.. Seguimiento en el hogar de niños febriles de bajos riesgos de infección bacteriana severa. Rev Cubana Pediatr [online]. 2003, vol.75, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3119.
A research of the diagnostic tools is reported in the evaluation of the febrile child. 192 febrile children at low risk for severe bacterial infection (SBI) were studied according to risk categories. A significant predominance was observed in febrile children over 12 months old with favorable evolution and with no severe bacterial infection. The non-favorable evolution and the severe bacterial infection were more frequent in children aged 90 days old or less. The child's recovery at home was suggested. The family physician's prestige increased as well as the interrealtion with the health care levels, which brought about a saving in hospital costs and hospital days. It is stressed that the 192 febrile children evaluated according to risk categories recovered. There were neither complications nor deaths.
