Abstract

ALVAREZ SANCHEZ, Aida de la Caridad. Ovarian torsion. Rev Cubana Obstet Ginecol [online]. 2011, vol.37, n.1, pp. 117-124. ISSN 1561-3062.

This is the case of a patient seen in the Emergency Room of the "10 de Octubre" Clinical Surgical Hospital due to hypogastric intense pain, nauseas and vomiting. At physical examination it was possible to find a palpable tumor in the right iliac fossa. A ultrasonography study was conducted describing a complex mass with solid predominance in the right adnexa and the diagnostic impression was of a twisted right ovarian tumor. A laparoscopy study was onset confirming the diagnosis, thus, the patient was operated on. In the operative report it is described a twisted ovarian tumor and the anatomic-pahthological report concludes: a hemorrhagic of right ovary. In literature it is recommended to study early this entity using color Doppler US and if the ovary is viable to perform a conservative surgery to preserve the ovarian function, preferable by endoscopic surgery.

Keywords : Twisted ovarian tumor; endoscopic surgery.
