Abstract
BENITEZ LLANES, Orestes; CASTANER MORENO, Juan; FUENTES ABREU, Jorge and ENAMORADO CASANOVA, Antonio. Renal failure in nephropathy due to inmunoglobulin A. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 1998, vol.27, n.1, pp. 62-65. ISSN 1561-3046.
A case of a 20-year old, white patient presenting with an association of an episode of gross hematuria associated with an acute renal failure is reported. Percutaneous rebal biopsy performed later showed a nephropathy by immunoglobulin A. The frequency of this complication is rare. The mechanical obstruction caused by hematic cylinders or the toxicity of these on tubular cells played an important pathogenic role. In this case, the most significant aspects were the intensity and duration of hematuria, the degree of renal failure, and the recovery of the renal function.
