Abstract
NODA SARDINAS, Constantino Luis et al. Problemática actual del paciente con ostomía. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2001, vol.30, n.4, pp. 256-262. ISSN 1561-3046.
Ostomies are standard procedures in surgical practice and have a great repercussion on patients and their relatives due to the economic, social, and labor inconveniences and to the psychological effects they produce. In this review, it is reflected on these aspects that on ocassions the health professional does not analyze in a comprehensive manner and the success of rehabilitation depends precisely on education. Besides, the present situation in Cuba is compared with that of other countries. Special instructions on diet, cleanliness, sports, exercises and trips are given. It is observed that it is possible to make an early diagnosis thanks to the health system existing in Cuba and that it is the only way to reduce ostomies.
