Abstract
DE LA PAZ NARANJO, José et al. Efecto hipoglicemiante del extracto fluido de Tecoma stans Linn en roedores. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2003, vol.32, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3046.
A preclinical pharmacological evaluation of the fluid extract of Tecoma stans Linn was made by inducing dexamethazone in two study groups composed of normoglycemic mice and rats with peripheral resistance to insulin aimed at knowing its possible hypoglycemic effect. The evaluated doses were 50, 100, 250 and 500 mg/kg. A hypoglycemic effect was observed with 250 and 500 mg/kg in both study groups, on comparing them with the negative control group. A similar effect was obtained with glibenclamide (5 mg/kg), the highest dose of the fluid extract evaluated in both groups of rodents. The average effective dose calculated in mice was 278.8 mg/kg. The significance level was fixed at p £0.5. The results showed that the fluid extract of Tecoma stan Linn had hypoglycemic effects in both groups of rodents.
