Abstract
FERNANDEZ ABREU, Adalberto F. et al. Nueva ortesis para el tratamiento del dedo en martillo de origen traumático. Estudio preliminar. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2003, vol.32, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3046.
A series of ten male patients aged 20-30 with traumatic mallet finger was presented. They were treated with a newly created orthesis during 4 weeks and were cured without sequelae, The international and national literature was thoroughly reviewed and this model was not found. The orthesis was performed with a hand-made and simple Kirschner of 1 mm. It is possible fo the orthopedist to made it at the emergency department so as not to delay the patient's treatment . Only the interphalangeal distal joint was immobilized, leaving the interphalangeal proximal joint free and with no rigidity as occurs with the emergency treatment with plaster. We intend to prove with this paper that the conservative emergency treatment consisting in immobilizing the distal interphalangeal joint for traumatic mallet finger is the most convenient.
