Abstract

LLERENA RODRIGUEZ, Jorge Alberto; HERNANDEZ LUACES, Luis Felipe; OLIVA ACOSTA, Jorge Luis  and  HERNANDEZ MONTANO, Niurka. Crisis de glaucoma agudo durante una laparotomía con el uso de anestesia general. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2003, vol.32, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3046.

The case of a female patient aged 56 who underwent laparotomy with general orotracheal anesthesia with thiopental, succinylcholine, halothane, nitric oxide and oxigen was reported. No immediate complications were observed. 48 hours later he presented the clinical picture corresponding to acute glaucoma. As she did not respond to drug treatment, peripheral iridectomy was performed with local anesthesia. In the analysis of the family pathological history related with appendectomy and with the drugs used, it was concluded that the existance of glaucoma family history in this patient together with the laryngoscopy maneuver, the use of succinylcholine and atropine were factors that in an individual or associated way contributed to the acute glaucoma attack.
