Abstract

Relaparotomías de urgencias: evaluación en cuatro años. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2003, vol.32, n.4, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3046.

A prospective and descriptive study was conducted to evaluate the behavior of emergency relaparotomies at "Manuel Fajardo Rivero" Military Clinical and Surgical Teaching Hospital in 4 years. The primary data were supported in the Dbase III Data Base Management System and were processed by the Epi Info statistical pacaage version 6.0, for which statistical tests, according to the design of a descriptive study were used. Of 3 148 abdomen surgeries, 67 patients were reoperated on (index of operations 2.1 %). The highest number of complications appeared in the hepatobiliopancreatic tract surgery (19.4 %). The clinical, humoral and imaging criteria were the most used to reoperate on (p < 0.001). The intraabdominal collections were observed in 35.8 % of the patients with relaparotomies. The most used surgical strategy was the relaparotomy on request. The global mortality index of our series was 31.3 % with predominance of the multiple organ failure syndrome in 42.8 % of the reoperated on.
