Abstract

VENTURA VELAZQUEZ, René Esteban; BRAVO COLLAZO, Tania Marta  and  HERNANDEZ TAPANES, Solangel. Posttraumatic stress disorder in the medicomilitary context. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2005, vol.34, n.4, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3046.

A review on a very important disease for military medicine that together with acute stress disorder is the psychiatric disease characteristic of war is exposed. An account is made of the historical background that allowed to reach the present concept of posttraumatic stress disorder, as well as its diagnostic criteria, epidemiology and treatment. This disease may be studied and the therapeutical intervention may be modelled taking into account that a group of events of high psychotraumatic potentiality take place in the civilian life, making possible its condtion of parallel syndrome. The theoretical approach to the topic is made on the basis of a review of the latest publications on it.

Keywords : Posttraumatic stress; trauma; catastrophes.
