Abstract

VIDAL RAMOS, Juan Luis  and  RODRIGUEZ CACERES, Rosé Antonio. The Medical Services of the Revolutionary Armed Forces in the Algeria-Morocco war (1963-1964). Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2005, vol.34, n.4, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3046.

The judgements and comments on the events leading to the participation of the health military personnel in the logistical support to the Cuban troops during the territorial conflict between Algeria and Morocco for about 6 months are exposed based mainly on testimonies, conserved documents and some previous publications. It is particular important to know what happened during the sea journey and, specially, in the organization and solution of the problems faced for providing direct medical assistance to the troops and backing the Medical Services corrresponding to the Algerian military and civilian population. Reference is also made to other historical developments in which the Cuban personnel took part. It is considered that this account should have an outstanding place in the memoir of the missions fulfilled by the military medical specialists, since there is no previous article with this specificity.

Keywords : Military Medicine; internationalist military missions; overseas military-medical support.
