Abstract

MONTERO CONTIS, Sandorf  and  MESA PEREZ, Ingrid. Requirement of buccomaxillofacial prosthesis in patients seen at the somatoprosthesis service. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2006, vol.35, n.3, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3046.

A descriptive study of 122 subjects, who attended the Somatoprothesis consultation service at "Dr Luis Díaz Soto" Higher Institute of Military Medicine, to identify buccomaxillofacial protheses and characterized by defect type, age, sex and cause, in order to develop a prevention and promotion program and to grant the required material and human resources. Information was gathered from January to December, 2003 from the medical histories; then data was processed and it was found that the craniofacial area most frequently affected was the ocular part as well as traumas caused by these defects predominated. Besides, it resulted that the higher percentage of those who needed the prostheses is included in 35-59y old male group.
