Abstract

MENCHO PONCE, Juan D et al. Antihelmintic efficacy of Ivermectin 1% (Labiomec®) in sheep herds from Camagüey province, Cuba. Rev Salud Anim. [online]. 2013, vol.35, n.2, pp. 134-136. ISSN 0253-570X.

The aim of this work was to evaluate the antihelmintic efficacy of Ivermectin 1% (Labiomec®, a commercial product of national production) in sheep herds from Camagüey province, Cuba. Fifteen groups of sheep were formed, one per herd with 10 animals each. Egg count reduction (ECR) test was performed, and RESO Program 2.0 was used to calculate the effectiveness and the confidence intervals. Only in one of 15 herds, the anthelmintic resistance was diagnosed, with a 36.3% efficiency. For the first time in Cuba, the dispersion state of the anthelmintic resistance was assessed in a geographical area, and a low dispersion of this phenomenon was demonstrated.

Keywords : Cuba; Ivermectin; sheep; resistance.
