Abstract

The present paper determines the social factors that have an effect on the selection of attenuating disquisitive strategies that speakers of a Guantanamo province´s community use when making a petition. The qualitative method has been used, for it makes possible to describe and interpret results in a consistent way. That is why this is a descriptive research that studies the use of the petition verbal act on the side of users of a language, in their socio-cultural context. Such study provides information theoretically updated, besides evidencing the applicability of the subject matter in a field work that manifests a linguistic usage, not generally dealt with in socio-cultural researches.
