Abstract

FABELO CONCEPCION, Sunamis. The power. From the Entertainment Society to the Knowledge Society. UH [online]. 2022, n.294  Epub June 01, 2022. ISSN 0253-9276.

This article proposes a theoretical approach to some of the contemporary debates on power. In this sense, it starts with a historical analysis of the main reflections on the subject during the second half of the 20th century, focusing on the relationship between hegemony (Gramsci), cultural imperialism (Schiller) and consensus building as central mechanisms in the processes of power production. Special emphasis is placed on the approach to the subject from the context of international relations. To this end, the theorists Joseph Nye and Robert Keohane are examined in depth, as well as the challenges posed by the subject in the knowledge society. The United States is used as a case study.

Keywords : power; United States; hegemony; Knowledge Society; Donald Trump..
