Abstract

DOMINGUEZ CAMEJO, Eilys; VAZQUEZ BONNE, Yamila  and  GONZALEZ MARTIN, Olga Rosa. The paradox between reality and discourse. UH [online]. 2022, n.294  Epub June 01, 2022. ISSN 0253-9276.

The study analyzes the strategies of the political discourse of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in the legitimization of the use of international cooperation as an instrument of US foreign policy towards Mexico during the Donald Trump Administration (2017-2021). We used the Discourse Analysis and the Strategic Discourse Analysis model. The research is part of the qualitative perspective and uses the documentary bibliographic review and the interview as information gathering techniques. The results achieved show the global strategic plan that USAID established to achieve acceptance and legitimacy of its presence in Mexico was to denounce the existing problems in the Aztec country and report on the activities of the agency to solve them.

Keywords : political communication; political discourse; USAID; Mexico..
