Abstract

WALKER JANZEN, Walker  and  GARCIA OLGUIN, Rodrigo. The Poor’s Vocation for Teaching - a Case Study Written at the Catholic University Cardinal Raúl Silva Henríquez, Chile. Rev. Cubana Edu. Superior [online]. 2019, vol.38, n.2  Epub Aug 01, 2019. ISSN 0257-4314.

This paper presents an ongoing project aimed at gaining an insight into teachers’ views on social and personal characteristics exhibited by talented students attending vulnerable educational institutions under the Programa de Acompañamiento y Acceso Efectivo, PACE -Assistance and Effective Access to Higher Education Program-, designed by the Catholic University Cardinal Raúl Silva Henríquez, on their potential as teachers, and their socio-economic and socio-cognitive situations. Such views, students’ judgments on a degree in pedagogy, and what they finally choose to study are compared.

Keywords : socio-cognitive characteristics; contexts of vulnerability; talented students; perception; potential as teachers.
