The quality of higher education is a challenge to overcome both for the professionals of the institutions that make it up and for those in charge of guaranteeing, evaluating and accrediting it in Cuba and the world. A response to this demand is the continuous improvement of the Subsystem of Evaluation and Accreditation of Higher Education Institutions (SEA-IES). From the increase of research in the HEIs, the analysis and critical evaluation of the obtained results, summarized in the resulting and consciously recognized learnings derived from self-evaluations and external evaluations, determined the sequence and character of the actions for decision making and continuous improvement. This work summarizes the experiences of the evaluations to institutions in the last four years, both those that obtained superior category of excellence, certified or qualified, and those that did not.
