Abstract

CAMACHO MONAR, Mélida Alexandra; GARCIA GONZALEZ, Máryuri  and  PELL DEL RIO, Silvia. Potential of a Methodology for the Development of the Environmental Professional Competence in the Civil Engineering Career. Rev. Cubana Edu. Superior [online]. 2020, vol.39, n.3  Epub Oct 01, 2020. ISSN 0257-4314.

The process of interaction between technology and science generates environmental problems caused by human activities that pollute the air, soil, water and the ecosystem in general. This situation is not sufficiently assumed by higher education institutions, which give little importance to environmental content, even though it is strongly promulgated at the international level. For this reason, a methodology has been designed for the development of environmental professional competence in the Civil Engineering career, based on principles, characteristics and functions, and action plans are presented with the aim of developing knowledge, know-how and environmental procedures. The fundamental pillar is the teaching collective, whose purpose is to empower students to reflect on how to transform the real state in which they find themselves and bring them to the desired state, with environmental professional competence for their performance.

Keywords : environmental competence; engineering; higher education institutions.
