Abstract

The internationalization as a deliberate process to insert the international dimension in the missions, purposes and functions of higher education institutions, requires to be managed. This implies the implementation of policies that guide the actions of the factors involved in this educational subsystem. A research experience is shared, having as a goal to identify the main guidelines that have modeled the policies related to the internationalization of higher education in the last decades which was based on systematization, based on documents agreed on international events, governing documents and rules of Cuban national politics and higher education, and other sources. The main guidelines that have formed, in three stages, since the last decade of the 90s, the international policies concerning the internationalization of higher education were identified; as well as the current priorities of national policy in this regard.
