This work analyses the contribution of the implementation of health communication (HC) in the University Project of Primary Health Care of the University of Quintana Roo (PU-APS). It is a qualitative study based oh the ethnographic method, narrative research and grounded methodology. As main results, the experience was contextualized and HC was identified in terms of: the communication as a mean, as purpose and as a tool to strengthen collaboration and multidiscipline in the training process of health science students. Likewise, the reflection between theory and practice was applied as a communicational element to generate spaces for dialogue that guide decision-making and enrich educational programs with focus on primary health care. It is concluded that HC is a strategic aspect for the strengthening of the social sense and its relevance in the health promotion activity is demonstrated.
