This study aimed to analyze the social representations of spirituality for people living with HIV/AIDS of different religious groups, offering subsidies for the discussion of the subject in higher education and health. It´s a descriptive study with a qualitative approach based on the theory of social representations in its structural approach. 166 people living with HIV/AIDS, taking cared for in a specialized outpatient service, answered a questionnaire of free evocations to the inductive term spirituality. After a general review, with the support of the EVOC software, an analysis was carried out based on the religion variable that included Catholics, Evangelicals, Spiritists/Spiritualists and without religion. In the results it was seen that God and faith were the central elements indicated for this representation. Specific elements for each group also appeared; this showed the importance of knowing the different thoughts about spirituality in higher education and health, since they can influence the process of taking care of a patient.
