FERNANDES DO PRADO, Ivanete; DE CARVALHO SOUZA, Daiane and ANTUNES MACEDO, Darlyane. Factors associated with the occurrence of cesarean section in Brazil. Rev. Cubana Edu. Superior [online]. 2021, vol.40, suppl.1 Epub Nov 01, 2021. ISSN 0257-4314.
In the early days, vaginal delivery was the only way to bring a child into the world, but with the advancement of medicine the cesarean delivery was invented. The objective of this article is to analyze the factors associated with the occurrence of cesarean delivery in Brazil. With this in mind, the analysis used the methods of cross-sectional study with secondary data available in the Information System on Live Births (SINASC) during the period of 2014 to 2018. The study shows as results that the probability of cesarean delivery increases with the age and education of the mother and with the increase in the number of prenatal visits (p <0.05). Also, it was noticeable that single, black and indigenous mothers are less likely to have a cesarean delivery (p <0.05). There was a significant association between the duration of pregnancy and birth weight with the type of delivery (p <0.05). This study revealed as conclusion that there is a significant association of the type of delivery with the sociodemographic characteristics of the mother, characteristics of the prenatal period and the newborn.
