The training of professionals must be based on scientific and innovative bases that allow higher results, adequate academic performance and teacher preparation. In recent years, the pedagogy and didactics of technical sciences have been the subject of vast studies, an imprint in which this research is carried out, from which the article is derived, the objective of which is to exchange the background and initial results on improvement of the academic performance of technical science students from the selection of teaching-learning methods and media. The influence of this on the academic performance of the students in the sample is assessed, from the particularities of two subjects, the professional model and the systemic approach. The results obtained allow a preliminary generalization that underlines this relationship in the training of technical science professionals, especially in this type of subject.
