Abstract

MOSCOSO AMADOR, María de Lourdes  and  PESANTEZ AVILES, Lauro Fernando. Memorable professors. Rev. Cubana Edu. Superior [online]. 2022, vol.41, n.1  Epub Mar 01, 2022. ISSN 0257-4314.

Awakening interest from the students´ part is a task which has obtained attention from teaching theories and pedagogical methodologies. However, it has not been proved how exactly this interest is achieved. Therefore, questions as, how is it possible to become a memorable professor? Which are the characteristics those professors meet that leave imprint signals in their students? How are the biographies of those who stay in the memory of the people who have gone through their classrooms? Have arisen.

The current descriptive and revision article intends to take readers to reflect on how professors’ biographies could guide us through narrative to discover and shape how these individuals became memorable. The authors with greater impact on the topic are Luis Porta and his research team, as well as Ken Bain with his study What the best College Teachers Do. According to their assumptions, it is possible to identify memorable professors through their life stories and biographic narratives which reflect concepts of memorability and memory, and their role in the constitution of good teaching.

Keywords : biography; criteria for memorability; memorable professors; narrative.
