Abstract

GLAS CEVALLOS, Clara Catalina  and  ORTIZ CARDENAS, Tania. Study on the perspectives of in-service learning, in students of the civil engineering career. Rev. Cubana Edu. Superior [online]. 2022, vol.41, n.1  Epub Mar 01, 2022. ISSN 0257-4314.

The higher subjects of the Civil Engineering career, called professional studies, are characterized by a series of links between academics in the classroom and field work in society. In this study, a series of experiences lived by students in field activities are compiled, where the idea was: a) To inquire about their perspectives on these field activities, and b) If these activities reinforce the theory - practice link, and if they have some influence on the efficiency of learning. A survey design was applied to 141 students. The results of the surveys are summarized: on average 3.57 field visits per student, 91.49% of the respondents say that if the theoretical-practical link is reinforced, 98.58% recognize that learning is reinforced and 96.45% affirm that this process is efficient. It concludes with pedagogical implications and recommendations.

Keywords : service learning; practical teaching; civil engineering; student opinion.
