Abstract

Immunogical and escape mechanisms in Gram positive bacteria infection. The Staphylococus aureous. Role of vitamins and minerals. Rev Cubana Hematol Inmunol Hemoter [online]. 2004, vol.20, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-2996.

A review of the microbiological aspects inherent to the skin infection caused by golden staphyloccocus and of the aspects related to the biological characteristics of the Grampositive bacteria, as well as some nutritional aspects connected with the sufficiency degree of the immune response against this group of bacteria that may be involved as risk factors for the infection, was made. Emphasis was given to the elements of the immune response related to the protection of the host against the infections caused by such germs and to the adaptation mechanisms of the bacteria to the immunological response. The role played by the antioxidant vitamins and minerals in cellular immunity was reviewed and it was proved the close relationship existing between the staphylococcus and the levels of minerals and vitamins propitiating an adequate functioning of the respiratory outbreak of the polymorphonuclear neutrophilic leukocyte (PMN) as the first line defense against the pathogen staphylococcus
