Abstract

MORERA BARRIOS, Luz Mireya et al. Frequency of HLA antigens in the cuban population, according to ethnic characteristics. Rev Cubana Hematol Inmunol Hemoter [online]. 2005, vol.21, n.2, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-2996.

The study was conducted with 721 apparently sound individuals. They were grouped in white and non-white (463 and 259, respectively), due to the great crossbreeding of our population. The distribution of 87 class I and 25 class II HLA antigens was analyzed. The techniques used were those of microlymphocytotoxicity described by Terasaki and modified by the NIH (serological typing for class I antigens), and the techniques of Molecular Biology used for class II antigens. On comparing the 2 groups (white and non-white) and making the statistical analysis by using X2 test with the correction of Yates for a p 0.001, a significant difference was reported for the following antigens: A9(23), A28, A11, A19(29, 30, 33) y A36; y B5, B7, B53, B42, B17, B35 (white and non-white). Only the DR5 showed a significant difference in class II antigens

Keywords : HLA; antigenic frequency; Cuban population.
