Abstract
CESPEDES, Ela M.; RIVERON, Gretel; ALONSO, Celia A. and GORDON, Lorenzo. Evolución metabólica de pacientes diabéticos tipo 2 sometidos a un tratamiento combinado de dieta y ejercicios yoga. Rev Cubana Invest Bioméd [online]. 2002, vol.21, n.2, pp. 98-101. ISSN 1561-3011.
A study of 40 type 2 diabetic patients was conducted by evaluating the effect produced by a soya protein-rich diet and exercises of moderate intensity. Some biochemical indicators were measured to this end. At the end of the study, it was found that the patients who practiced yoga exercises showed a significant reduction (p<0.05) of total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL cholestherol and creatinine and an increase of HDL cholesterol compared with the group that did aerobic exercises. These results suggest that this therapy combined with yoga exercises may be effective in this type of patients.
