Abstract

CASTELLANOS PUERTO, Edelis; SEBAZCO PERNAS, Caridad; FERNANDEZ, Mercedes  and  PEREZ SANTOYA, Pedro Enrique. Alteration of the leukocytic levels in BALB/C mice subjected to stress. Rev Cubana Invest Bioméd [online]. 2006, vol.25, n.2, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3011.

A study was conducted with 15 mice, which were subdivided into 3 groups of 5 each. The control group, that was maintained under normal conditions, and 2 experimental groups that were subjected to stress caused by hunger and cold, to evaluate the leukocytes’ affection. Blood samples were taken from the animals at the beginning and at the end of every experiment to perform white blood cell counts. At the end of the study, it was observed that the leukocytic populations, mainly the lymphocytes, were significantly affected.
