CASTILLO AROCHA, Ivette; CUETO CANABATE, Michel E.; CASTILLO GUZMAN, Antonio and AROCHA MARINO, Carmen. Introduction of electrocardiography in Cuba. Rev Cubana Invest Bioméd [online]. 2009, vol.28, n.4, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3011.
Electrocardiogram is the oldest non-invasive method used in cardiology. It has been used in its original form for more than 100 years since the first recording with a string galvanometer created by Einthoven in 1902. Sir Thomas Lewis, who was his successor, contributed more than anybody else to the setting of the clinical value of electrocardiography from 1908 to 1923. The historical -logical method, assisted by particular techniques of historical sciences, were used. Data were chronologically arranged and then a deductive-inductive analysis was made.
Keywords : electrocardiography; cardiology; history.
