Abstract

CASTILLO PEREZ, Cesar  and  LAWJART RONDON, Jorge. Aplicación de electroacupuntura y terapia convencional en pacientes con dolor cervical crónico. Rev Cubana Enfermer [online]. 1999, vol.15, n.2, pp. 67-71. ISSN 1561-2961.

To prove the importance of electroacupunture treatment, a descriptive and prospective study of 60 patients with chronic cervical pain, who had been cared for in the 3 health care areas of Tercer Frente municipality in Santiago de Cuba, was performed from January to July 1997. The two groups-study and control-were made up of 30 patients each, the former being treated with electroacupunture and the latter with normal massage therapy (moxa). The study group had a significant remission in less time which increased the level of independence of patients when carrying out daily activities, reduced or eliminated drug use and improved their general disposition and working capacity.

Keywords : ELECTROACUPUNTURE; PAIN; CERVICOBRACHIAL NEURALGIA [therapy]; PHYSICAL THERAPY [method].
