CHAVECO MORAGA, Leonida; MARTINEZ BURGER, Guillermo and RODRIGUEZ LOPEZ, Ernesto. Proceso de atención de enfermería en pacientes con infección y síndrome de respuesta inflamatoria sistémica. Rev Cubana Enfermer [online]. 2000, vol.16, n.2, pp. 92-95. ISSN 1561-2961.
A descriptive and retrospective study of 32 patients aged 0-15, who suffered from infection and syndrome of systemic inflammatory response (SSIR) during l996 and were attended at different services of the South Children Teaching Hospital, in Santiago de Cuba, was conducted. These entities were more frequent among children under 5. Most of them came from the Emergency Department, the operating room and intermediate care units. The acute respiratory infections predominated as a cause and more than half of the patients required ventilatory support. The antimicrobials, modulators and steroids were widely used and nursing procedures were heterogenous. It was stressed the importance of applying the Nursing Care process on these cases, whose survival was 81,3%.
