Abstract

Some basic elements are presented aimed at improving the writing of a scientific article on the basis of the problems detected in a documental review of the papers to be published in the section of original articles of two Cuban biomedical journals from 2003 to 2004. It is stressed the importance of the reader of a scientific article. The most serious problems were found in the separate paragraph of methods, where it is not clearly expressed how the investigation was carried out, it appears information corresponding to the introduction and it is made an incorrect use of the statistical techniques. Besides, inaccuracy was observed in the citations included in the bibliographic references. The elements given mey contribute to improve the writing and to increase the quality of the scientific article starting form a better understanding of the meaning and content of each of its parts.
