Abstract

SOARES SAMPAIO, Rodrigo. Contribution of the Nursing Process and Systematization of Care for the Autonomy of the Nurse. Rev Cubana Enfermer [online]. 2019, vol.35, n.2  Epub June 01, 2019. ISSN 1561-2961.

Introduction:

Nursing has faced the challenge of breaking the dependence of the medical model focused on the search for greater professional autonomy. The need to rely on their own knowledge to deal with health and disease problems under their jurisdiction is discussed, using appropriate methodologies, such as the nursing process and the systematization of care.

Objective:

To identify the contributions of the nursing process and the systematization of nursing care to the professional autonomy of the nurse.

Methods:

Integrative review, in five steps, of 10 complete articles collected in LILACS, SciELO and PubMed in July 2016 by the expression [(“professional autonomy”) AND (“nursing care” OR “nursing process” OR “systematization of nursing care”) AND NOT (“patient autonomy”)].

Conclusions:

The nursing process and the systematization of care, disconnected from the current model and defined its role in the production of health and the social dimension of care, can promote the autonomy of the nurse.

Keywords : Professional autonomy; nurse role; nursing process; nursing.
